I primarily use Abelton and Cubase, I have migrated over to mostly Cubase now. Cubase’s audio editing capabilities are just so good that editing on any other DAW is cumbersome. Each daw does have its strengths though. Mixing isn’t a forte for Abelton, but I really enjoy the creative workflow, and lots of the shortcuts are very intuitive. I do make full mixes in Abelton including mastering chain. Vocals are always in cubase though.
Cubase’s variaudio 3 is miles, and miles ahead of any other DAW I’ve tried. You can double click any clip and start editing pitch and time. It sounds great 99.99% of the time, and if you want to use Melodyne, you still have the option of using it via ARA2 which allows you to offline open up entire clips or tracks without having to play them into a VST
As of 2022 I’ve started reducing amount of 3rd party plugins I use, and stick to mostly stock plugins with a few favorite 3rd party ones. Here are some of my top used 3rd party plugins for mixing.
Here are my top favorite VST instruments I use. I was using some analog synths for a while, but I like the digital only workflow now because jumping from session to session and having full recall is just so nice.
